It was just three weeks ago when Caddo Parish Commissioner Joyce Bowman stopped by the station to share some good news. She was excited that the cancer in her liver and lungs was shrinking.
In an exclusive interview with KSLA Anchor Domonique Benn she says something new has happened. There's been a setback. Thursday morning, Bowman learned her cancer has spread to the left side of her brain. She says it is more critical now than its ever been because it's her brain.
After a series of MRIS's and CAT scans this week, doctors confirmed the news. Bowman said, "I wanted to scream, I wanted to absolutely scream because that has been my worst fear my worst nightmare."
Last summer, Bowman broke the news of her cancer diagnosis to Domonique. Three months later, we followed her as she went through one of her chemo therapy sessions.
She's always been transparent about her political career and her medical issues. She wants the community to know that she is not giving up and the fight goes on. She continues to serve the people in her district.
When KSLA News 12 viewers first heard about Bowman's cancer, they flooded her with cards and prayers. She says that has kept her going and she needs their prayers again.
