SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
The Caddo Coroner's Office has confirmed that the body found in the Red River on Thursday is that of an elderly Shreveport man missing for more than two weeks.
It's still not known definitively whether the 87-year-old is the same man believed to have been knocked off the train trestle over the Red River by an oncoming KCS train the same day Anderson went missing.
Video from the train appeared to show one adult male figure on the bridge, but does not definitively reveal what happened to that person.
Anderson reportedly suffered from Alzheimer's disease. Family members reported him missing on the morning of February 6, after discovering that he had walked away from his Sycamore Avenue apartment in Allendale.
At the time of his disappearance, police noted that he was wearing a bracelet engraved with his name and other identifying information.
The body found on the Shreveport side of the river across from Boomtown Casino by the Caddo Sheriff's Marine Patrol on Thursday morning was wearing a Sheriff's Operation Safeguard (SOS) identification bracelet, which are provided by the Caddo Sheriff's Office to people with dementia or those who are prone to wander.
