SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
A body was found in the Red River Thursday morning by the Caddo Sheriff's Marine Patrol.
The Caddo Coroner's Office was called to the Stoner Boat Launch in response to the recovery of the body, which they say was found near the bank on the Shreveport side of the river across from Boomtown Casino just before 8 a.m.
The body has not been positively identified. However, the person was wearing a Sheriff's Operation Safeguard (SOS) identification bracelet. The bracelets are provided by the Caddo Sheriff's Office to people with dementia or those who are prone to wander. The ID numbers on the bracelets correspond to personal information maintained by the Sheriff's Office that helps locate the person's family if they are reported missing.
Deputies will provide that information to the Caddo Parish Coroner to assist with identification.
The discovery comes 2 weeks after a man is believed to have been struck by a KCS train on the railroad bridge next to Sci-Port over the Red River.
Video from the train appeared to show one adult male figure on the bridge, but does not definitively reveal what happened to that person.
