Shreveport Police are investigating the shooting of a woman Wednesday evening outside a Queensborough church.
45-year-old Linda Netter was found lying in the middle of the street and crying for help by members of the nearby Greater Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church around 8:30 p.m. They called 911.
"They were just getting out of choir practice and one of the members heard the lady yell for help," said Pastor of Greater Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church.
Police say Netter was shot in the upper torso. She was taken to LSU Medical Center with serious injuries, but she is expected to survive.
"That's wonderful," said Jones. When he was told of the news he said that he and the church members have been praying for Netter. "We go into prayer mode," said Jones.
Investigators say they have not yet been able to interview the victim and are working to determine how she came to be shot. There were reports of a dark-colored vehicle, possibly a Dodge, leaving the area soon after the shooting occurred.
Neighbors tells KSLA News 12 they heard a gun shot, and then heard Netter's cries for help. But they didn't know what sparked the violence.
Anyone with information is urged to call Shreveport Police detectives at 673-6955 or Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
