Louisiana Tech pounds Central Baptist

RUSTON – Louisiana Tech had seven players score in double digits as the Bulldogs defeated Central Baptist 118-48 Wednesday night in the Thomas Assembly Center.

The win marks the 16th straight victory for Louisiana Tech, a new school record. The 16-game win streak is now tied for the third longest win streak in college basketball. Tech stormed out of the gate, scoring 59 points in the first half, and kept that tempo in the second half scoring 59 points again.

Leading the Bulldogs was Raheem Appleby who led the offensive barrage with 15 points. Kenyon McNeail and Isaiah Massey each added 12, while Stojan Gjuroski and Michale Kyser both scored 11. Rounding out the double-figure scoring were Gilbert Talbot and Cordarius Johnson who added 10 points each. Talbot also had a team-high 11 rebounds to record h first career double-double.

Central Baptist was led by Blake Hanney who led all scorers with 23 points. Carl Corman had a game-high 12 rebounds, while also blocking six shots.

Louisiana Tech returns to action Thursday, Feb. 28 at home against Utah State in a 7 p.m. contest in the Thomas Assembly Center.
