More severe weather possible late Wednesday into Thursday

Posted: Updated:
EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

There will be a slight risk for severe weather again, for all of East Texas, beginning late Wednesday and continuing until a cold front moves through during the day on Thursday.

As a warm front precedes the cold front early Thursday morning, the atmosphere will already be turning as this occurs; then as the warmer more unstable air moves into East Texas, the chances for a few isolated tornadoes will then exist. The greater threat here in ETX will be strong, gusty thunderstorm winds and hail, along with some very heavy rainfall.

The greatest risk for tornadoes will be over Southern and Central Louisiana. There will be another factor to weigh in here: because of the clouds and the rainfall tomorrow, the atmosphere will not be really warm as the storm system arrives.

The cold front should move through East Texas during the middle part of the day on Thursday, but if the front slows down any, the risk for an isolated tornado will increase over portions of eastern sections of East Texas.

Rainfall totals are anticipated to be in the 1.00" - 1.50" range once the rain begins tomorrow and then ends on Thursday. This will certainly be a benefit for us all.
