Shreveport man charged with injuring infant

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A Shreveport man is behind bars, accused of causing serious injuries to a three-month-old child.

Shreveport Police were called to a  around 11 Monday night, after the child arrived in the pediatric emergency room suffering from what was described as a severe head injury.

Officers arrived and spoke to 31-year-old Lawrence Wright, who was there at the hospital with the child. Official from the Louisiana Department of Social Services and Shreveport detectives working together on the investigation allegedly uncovered information linking Wright to the injuries suffered by the infant.

Wright was interviewed and taken into custody, charged with second degree cruelty to a juvenile.

According to SPD, the investigation is still in the early stages and are working to determine what events led up to the injuries sustained to the child.

Wright, who is believed to be the biological father of the child, has been booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
