Men's Basketball: Pilots run past Rams

SHREVEPORT, La. - The no. 20 LSU Shreveport Pilots kept their Red River Athletic Conference regular season title hopes alive with a 97-88 win over the Texas Wesleyan Rams at The Dock on Monday night. Rodney Milum and Mark Politte combined for 55 of the Pilot's points.

LSUS (20-5, 15-4 RRAC) overcame a 14-point deficit with four minutes to play in the first half and pulled within one by halftime. The Pilots kept that spark going shooting 62-percent in the second half as they outscored the Rams 52-43 in the second half as they garnered a 10-point lead with four minutes to play in the game.

The Pilots shot 55-percent from the field for the game led by Milum with 23 points and Politte who had 22. Brandon Davis did a little bit of everything for the Pilots as he tied with Politte for the game's high of six assists and he had nine rebounds including leading the team with two blocked shots, three steals and he managed to pour in 17 points. Rydell Harris logged his eighth double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Harris helped the Pilots win the battle on the boards out rebounding the Rams 41-30.

TWU (17-12, 10-11) shot 45-percent and had the game's leading scorer with Mo Weathers who was 5-11 from downtown and finished with 29 points. Jazz Holman and Oscar Griffin each tossed in a dozen points while Kyle Preston had 11.

The Pilots will hit the road for a pair of huge game's with their first stop in Hawkins, Texas, as they take on Jarvis Christian on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. Saturday the Pilots will entertain Saint Thomas in Houston, Texas, before returning to The Dock for their final game of the season to battle the RRAC leader, the SAGU Lions at 7:30 p.m. for Senior Night.

LSUS needs to win these next two games and hope SAGU falls to either Wiley or Our Lady of the Lake. If that happens then Monday night's matchup at The Dock will be for the RRAC title.
