BOSSIER PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

A Bossier Parish bridge shut down for emergency repairs after heavy rains earlier this week has been reopened.

Bossier Parish engineers shut down the Caplis-Sligo Bridge over the Flat Rive to all traffic on Tuesday to repair pilings believed to be damaged by debris that the rains pushed downstream.

Parish Engineer Butch Ford said during an inspection of the bridge that morning, crews found that one of its pilings was either broken or washed out.

Repairs were expected to cost about $10,000 and take 10 days or more, but the Bossier Parish Police Jury announced on Thursday that the bridge had been reopened at 1:45 p.m.

The bridge is slated to be replaced in several weeks, with the use of federal funds.
