Texarkana expands recycling program

Posted: Updated:
TEXARKANA, AR (KSLA) -

The City of Texarkana, Arkansas, unveiled on Thursday a new 10-bin recycling trailer for paper products. Now, residents can get rid of items every week instead of every month.

The trailer will be at a different drop site each week beginning February 18 at the Walmart Super center at 133 Arkansas Blvd.

City officials say they hope to sell the recycled materials to help recoup some of the cost of the program, adding that the trailer is just the start of something larger.

"We have another grant that will help us to construct a drop off facility and a loading dock so we can load the paper onto box trucks and try and sell it on a larger scale rather than just right off the trailer," says Texarkana Public Works Director Paul Hackleman.

The site of future locations can be found by contacting the Texarkana City Hall at 870-779-4946.
