On the scene: Smoke billows from the Tango warehouse in the 9100 block of Slack Road in south Shreveport.
SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
Firefighters are working to find out the cause of a warehouse fire in south Shreveport.
The two-alarm fire at a warehouse in Slack Industrial Park leased by Tango reportedly started around 9 Tuesday morning.
Fire officials on the scene say large bales of cardboard caught fire, setting off the sprinklers.
Investigators confirm the fire started in the back of the building, inside of a large bale of recycled paper.
An employee of the company told KSLA News 12 other employees were smoking inside of the building this morning, but investigators have not confirmed if this was the cause.
"There is a no smoking sign, but we do realize that there is a possibility that people do not adhere to that," says Asst. Fire Chief Fred Sanders. So, there were no signs of a lightning strike or anything like that that could have potentially caused this fire."
Employees were working inside the warehouse at the time the fire broke out. No one was injured.
Fire officials estimate the blaze caused around $40,000 in damage.
