Louisiana Tech notches 20th win beating UTSA

RUSTON – Louisiana Tech (20-3, 11-0) had four players score in double digits as the Bulldogs defeated the Roadrunners (5-17, 1-11) 74-49 Thursday night in the Thomas Assembly Center in front of a crowd of 4,061.

UTSA never led as Tech raced out the gate leading at the half by 15, 34-19. Tech led by as much as 28 in the second half and finished the game with a 25-point win. The Louisiana Tech bench outscored the UTSA bench 39-4. The Bulldogs also shot 17-20 from the free throw line. With the victory Louisiana Tech has reached the 20-win mark for the first time since the 2009-2010 season.

Chris Anderson and Cordarius Johnson each scored 11 points, while Raheem Appleby and Jaron Johnson each added 10 points. Kenneth Smith had nine assists on the night. The Bulldogs all chipped in grabbing rebounds as LA Tech out-rebounded UTSA 53-37.

UTSA was led by Kannon Burrage who led all scorers with 15 points. Also scoring in double figures for the Roadrunners was Michael Hale III who added 11 points.

Louisiana Tech returns to the hardwood Saturday, Feb. 9, as they face off against Texas State in a 7 p.m. tip off in the Thomas Assembly Center.
