SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shreveport police are asking for the public's help in locating an elderly man who has not been seen or heard from since he walked away from his home Wednesday.

At about 9:54 a.m. Wednesday, Shreveport police were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 1500 block of Sycamore Avenue in reference to a missing person. Officers contacted a family member of 87-year-old Foster Anderson. She said she stopped by to check on Anderson at his residence and discovered that he had apparently walked away from the apartments and has not been seen since.

Officers spoke to other apartment complex residents and believe Anderson left his home sometime Wednesday.

Anderson, who reportedly suffers from Alzheimer's disease, is described as a black male, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 125 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white baseball cap, a beige jacket and blue jeans. He is also believed to be wearing a bracelet engraved with his name and other identifying information.

Patrol officers and detectives have been searching the area for Anderson.

If anybody has any information regarding Anderson's whereabouts, they are asked to call Shreveport police headquarters at 673-BLUE (2583) or Crime Stoppers at 673-7373.
