BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Members of Louisiana's top school board are planning a statewide tour of public schools.
The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/12fC66h ) the first stops are Tuesday and Wednesday at eight schools in the Caddo and Bossier parishes.
Schools on the tour in Caddo Parish on Tuesday are:
Caddo Parish Middle Magnet at 9 a.m.
Northside Elementary School at 10:30 a.m.
Cherokee Park Elementary School at Noon
Southwood Senior High School at 2 p.m.
Schools on the tour in Bossier Parish on Wednesday are:
Curtis Elementary School at 8:30 a.m.
Airline High School at 10 a.m.
Haughton High School at 11:30 a.m.
Benton Middle School at 1:30 p.m.
The schools all experienced significant growth in student achievement and earned Top Gains status for 2011-12.
Details of other visits are still being worked out, according to Brodrick Hampton, spokesman for the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.
The visits come at a time of sweeping changes in education, including new annual evaluations for teachers.
BESE President Chas Roemer said the visits are designed to get feedback on education issues from teachers, parents and students.
