SORRENTO, LA (WAFB) -
The big party is underway in New Orleans
for Super Bowl XLVII. In Sorrento, one little girl and her family will be
celebrating for a different reason this weekend.
It's lunch time at Sorrento Primary School.
While students and teachers enjoy their mid-day break John Graham, back from a seven month deployment in Afghanistan, is ready to surprise his daughter.
"She has no idea we're here. I've been here
since Sunday taking care of the out processes," said Graham. "It's been really
hard keeping this secret, talking to her on the phone, pretending to still be
over there."
Principal Robin Anderson told the students
they were having a special drawing and the winner got to have lunch a special
guest. What the kids did not know is that Breanna's Graham's name was the only
one in the hopper. Breanna says when she heard her name and got on the stage,
her dad was the last person she expected to see.
"I was really excited," said Breanna.
Principal Anderson says they had no problem
re-arranging lunch schedules or keeping the rest of the students in the dark to
make today's surprise happen.
"I wanted to make that very special for
Breanna because she definitely...every time I see her in the hallway, she would
always speak about her daddy," said Anderson.
And now that her daddy is home for a while,
Breanna says they have a lot of catching up to do.
"We were going to go to this theme park,
and we were going to go to my favorite restaurant that I've never been to, but
I heard it was really good,"' said Breanna.
Breanna says several Mardi Gras parades are
also on the agenda for her, her dad and the rest of the family this weekend.
