Jan. 31st: KSLA News 12 New Orleans Super Bowl Editorial

The spectacle that is the Super Bowl is this Sunday in New Orleans. This will mark the tenth time the big game has been held in the Big Easy.

New Orleans is arguably the best place to hold the game. The city's rich history, unique food and entertainment and endless party atmosphere fits perfectly.

And New Orleans is in the best shape it's been in a long time. Billions of dollars have been spent in the past few years since Hurricane Katrina rebuilding much of the city. Streets have been repaved, a new streetcar line is about to open…hotels have been renovated.

The Superdome itself has undergone more than $300 million dollars in improvements including a new roof, new seats and a new facade.

Of course, the big game is this Sunday. Coverage starts here on KSLA News 12 at 10 a.m. It's good to have the Super Bowl back in Louisiana.

I'm James Smith.

State Police Supt. Col. Mike Edmonson needs to address this inexcusable behavior directly and restore the public's confidence. He should be fully transparent in his investigation into the matter and should invite an outside entity to look into the matter.

Be on the lookout for kids. They seem to dart out from everywhere. They are certainly not looking out for you; so please look out for them.
