Bossier sheriff's deputies have arrested a burglary suspect who was wanted for stealing weapons and other items from a Webster Parish residence late last week and who fled from law enforcement officers during a high-speed chase and attempted escape into the woods in Bossier Parish.

Ira Lee Reynolds, 29, was arrested at about noon Friday after he led officers on a high-speed pursuit westbound on Highway 2 just before crossing into Caddo Parish. A Plain Dealing police officer spotted the suspect's vehicle and gave chase, but Reynolds fled at a high rate of speed. He then ditched his vehicle just before crossing the Red River on Highway 2.

Law enforcement officers from the Bossier Sheriff's Office, the Webster Parish Sheriff's Office, Plain Dealing Police Department and Bossier Parish Commercial Vehicle Enforcement set up a perimeter. Meanwhile, K-9 bloodhound teams from Bossier and Caddo parishes initiated a foot pursuit.

Bossier sheriff's deputies captured Reynolds a shot time later. He was taken into custody without incident about a quarter-mile into the woods. He was unarmed.

Reynolds' vehicle was impounded and searched. Deputies found numerous weapons and stolen items that he had taken from a residence in Springhill that morning.

Reynolds was charged with seven counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, seven counts of illegal possession of stolen firearms, aggravated flight from an officer, driving under suspension, reckless operation of a vehicle and two counts of failure to appear, along with additional arrest warrants out of Texas. He was booked into the Bossier Maximum Security Facility. Bond is pending.

The Webster Parish Sheriff's Office has made additional arrests in this case and is continuing its investigation.
