SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A man who was attacked Monday afternoon and left unconscious and lying on a street near Bryant Park is in critical condition at a local hospital.

The man, who has been identified as 38-year-old Lonnie Hector of Shreveport, was taken to Willis-Knighton hospital with what police describe as potentially life-threatening injuries.

So far, an investigation has revealed only that the victim allegedly was assaulted by a man and a woman, police spokesperson Cpl Marcus Hines says. Police say the incident occurred about 4 p.m. on Cade Drive in South Shreveport.

An argument is believed to have sparked a dispute involving Hector and the couple, leading to an altercation among the three.

Detectives were sent to the scene because of the seriousness of the assault.
