GRAMBLING, LA (KSLA) -
A Grambling man is suffering from burns on more than 85 percent of his body all because of a fire that he allegedly started.
Grambling police say around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, they responded to a report of a family disturbance. When they arrived, officers say 50-year-old Larry Brown had driven to Ruston to confront his wife who had taken shelter with a friend. Brown was not allowed in the home and was asked to leave the property.
Brown became irate and rammed his SUV into another vehicle causing major damage to the home in Ruston.
Police say Brown then returned to his mobile home in Grambling and drove his SUV into it. Police say that's when Brown allegedly started setting his wife's clothes on fire, but during the process the fire got out of control and spread through the home.
Brown managed to drive to the Northern Louisiana Medical Center in Ruston with life-threatening injuries and burns.
Grambling firefighters say they spent several hours trying to contain the fire. They say the home was a total loss.
Police say Brown faces multiple felony charges including arson.
