Second half surge propels Louisiana Tech past San Jose St

RUSTON, La. – Whitney Frazier and Lulu Perry each scored 21 points as the Louisiana Tech women's basketball team defeated San Jose State 94-80 Thursday night in the Thomas Assembly Center.

LA Tech (9-9, 5-3 WAC) scored 51 points in the first half, as they led by 14 at the half. The Spartans cut into the Techster to lead, when they pulled to within three with just over five minutes remaining.

The Lady Techsters used San Jose State's foul trouble to their advantage as they pulled away over the final minutes. San Jose State (7-12, 4-4 WAC) played the final minutes a man down, as all but four Spartans fouled out of the ballgame.

The Techsters were led by Perry who scored a career high 21 points and a career high nine rebounds. Kelia Shelton recorded double-digit rebounds, as she grabbed 11 rebounds in the game. Also scoring in double digits for LA Tech was Brittany Lewis who added 15 points.

San Jose State was led by Ta'Rea Cunnigan who scored 21 points. Also scoring in double digits for the Spartans were Emily Schill and Classye James who added 14 and 12 points respectively.

Louisiana Tech's next action comes Saturday, Jan. 26 against Utah State with a 7 p.m. tip off in the Thomas Assembly Center.
