LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -
Lufkin Police officers allegedly found a 22-year-old man hiding in a plastic children's playhouse behind a Cunningham Drive residence after he fled from them earlier Monday evening. Then, when they ran his driver's license, they found that he had outstanding felony theft warrants.
Sashoun Denicholas Brown, 22, is still being held in the Angelina County Jail on a state jail felony-level theft charge, a motion to adjudicate guilt for theft, and evading arrest and detention, which is a Class-A misdemeanor. While no bond amounts have been set for the theft charges, a bond of $1,500 was set for the evading arrest charge.
At 5:36 p.m. Monday, Lufkin Police officers responded to a 911 call about a disturbance in progress at Ward Street Park. When they tried to detain Brown, he allegedly ran from them on foot, and was later found hiding in the children's playhouse, according to police reports. The outstanding warrants were from the Angelina County Sherriff's Office, and the original felony theft offense was in 2008.
No further details were available on the felony theft charge.
