Home heavily damaged in house fire


A house fire in East Shreveport sent two to the hospital and left a home with heavy damage Friday morning.

Shreveport firefighters say just before 3 a.m. they responded to a report of a fire at a home in the 300 block of East 81st Street .

A couple and another family member were in the home at the time of the fire. An 85-year-old woman and another family member, a 50-year-old man, were able to escape.  Firefighters say the pulled an 84-year-old man who is paralyzed out a window at the back of the home.

The 54-years-old man and 85-year-old woman were taken to LSU Medical Center for smoke inhalation.

Firefighters say the fire started in the kitchen after the stove was left on while all three people were asleep.

Officials say the fire spread from the kitchen to the attic. They say there is heavy fire and smoke damage throughout the kitchen and attic.
