Grab your umbrella: More heavy rainfall moving into ETX

Posted: Updated:
EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

The storm system we have been monitoring for the past 4-5 days is really upon us here in ETX. Rainfall totals...just today...have exceeded 3.5" in a few areas with an additional 1"-1.50" possible through the remainder of the day.

The heaviest rainfall, as of 2:45 p.m., was located over the southwestern sections of East Texas, and now that this area of heavy rain is moving northward, into the heart of East Texas, we could all be looking at a rain event total nearing 5.00" plus, just as forecast a few days ago.

Overnight, the rain is likely to continue with it beginning to taper off early tomorrow morning. There is another chance for more rain over the weekend, but nothing like what we have seen over the past few days and will see during the rest of our day today, but more is forecast.

Please remember, a flash flood watch is in effect for most of ETX through at least this afternoon and for many other locations until tomorrow morning. The NW sections of ETX have been dropped from the watch at this time. Please keep it tuned to KLTV-7 as well as KLTV.COM for the latest weather info.
