VAN ZANDT COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

It's 40 years in prison for the East Texas man who brutally beat his wife back in March.

Josh Holden took a plea deal that could keep him in prison until 2053. Josh will be eligible for parole after 20 years.

His wife, Lisa, escaped their home and hid in the woods for two days with their small children. Investigators say Josh abused and tortured his wife for seven years, keeping her locked inside their home, until she escaped.

Investigators told KLTV back in April that before Lisa escaped, Josh beat her with a bat and jumper cables because his car wouldn't start.

After Lisa was found, she spent some time in the hospital to recover from two broken legs, head injuries and years of abuse.
