SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
The home where a man died in a house fire Thursday night went up in flames again Friday morning.
Shreveport Firefighters were called at 10:13 p.m. Thursday to the 600 block of W. 83rd Street. Emergency personnel, called by a neighbor who witnessed the blaze, were on the scene four minutes later, Shreveport Fire Asst. to the Chief Fred Sanders says.
By the time emergency crews arrived, they saw flames billowing from around the one-story house, which is located in the Cedar Grove neighborhood. Firefighters controlled the blaze soon thereafter.
Firefighters found 51-year-old Greg Mills inside the home. Firefighters say they believe Mills was trying to escape the fire.
The Caddo Parish coroner pronounced Mills dead at the scene. He was the only person in the house.
At 4:43 a.m. Friday, Shreveport firefighters were called back to 603 W. 83rd street because the fire apparently re-ignited causing more damage to the home.
Fire investigators have confirmed that the fire started in the living room and that Mills was found in one of the bedrooms, but the exact cause is still unknown.
