TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) -
Wednesday marked the first official day on the job for the new city manager of Texarkana, Texas.
The City Council hired John Whitson in November, and he began moving into his new office and meeting members of the city staff.
Whitson has managed cities for the past 20 years. He came to Texarkana from North Carolina.
He says he will be a middle man for the citizens of Texarkana and the city council.
"It is not John Whitson's agenda that is at work here. Hopefully, what I bring to it is experience, a sound management process and some good decision making," Whitson says.
He replaces former city manager Larry Sullivan, who retired last year.
