In Longview, a couple is celebrating the birth of their first child and the first one to be born in Gregg county in 2013. It was Monday afternoon that 22-year-old Ashley Coston went into labor; a very long labor at Longview Regional Medical Center.
"I was in labor 23 hours, considering I didn't get to see him till almost 10 hours after I had him, definitely very excited," said new mother Ashley Coston.
"I was ready to meet my son, as long as both of them were healthy I couldn't ask for more," said father Corey Coston.
6-pound 9-ounce Colby Coston came into the world at 2:37 this morning.
"There's nothing like it, I didn't think you could love somebody that much , like the first time you saw them," Ashley says.
For the Costons, it's joy in the midst of uncertain times. But Colby's birth makes all their troubles seem secondary.
"When you look at a miracle like this, you can't let the world drag you down; when I'm out there working, I'm working for this," Corey said.
And Corey, like all fathers should, hopes his son will grow up to change the world.
