GREENWOOD, LA (KSLA) -

A Greenwood man was killed in a motorcycle accident Thursday morning.

Caddo sheriff's deputies Chris Wood and Mark McLaughlin responded to the accident at approximately 6:15 a.m. in the 7600 block of Jefferson-Paige Road near Alma Road.

Deputies say that a 2012 Yamaha Cruiser driven by 53-year-old Mathew Hale of Greenwood was traveling eastbound on Jefferson-Paige when he struck a horse in the roadway. Personnel from Caddo Fire District No. 3 responded and rendered aid before transporting Hale to LSU Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

The Caddo Sheriff's Office contacted a local veterinarian who disposed of the animal due to its injuries. The horse's owner has not yet been identified.

The accident is still under investigation.
