NATCHITOCHES, LA (KSLA) -

A two-month joint investigation by Natchitoches Parish and state officials has led to the arrest of a Natchitoches man on a homicide charge after the death of a 10-month-old infant in Provencal, La., according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones Jr.

Jonathon M. King, 30, of the 100 block of Collins Road, has been booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center on one count of second-degree murder in connection with the case.

The investigation began on October 26 when the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office received a emergency call, reporting the death of a child at 4160 North Boulevard, in Provencal.

According to NPSO Detective Greg Dunn, deputies and criminal investigators responded to the scene and discovered the infant dead under suspicious circumstances.

The infant's body was sent to LSU Medical Center for an autopsy.

During the course of the investigation, detectives with the NPSO and district attorney's office served search warrants, collected evidence, and conducted interviews.

As a result of the autopsy findings, detectives obtained a criminal warrant through the Tenth Judicial District Court.

No bond has been set for King.
