BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

With temperatures headed back into the 20s at night this week, it was perfect timing for local teachers to pick up their "Coats for Kids."

Porters Cleaners' Benton Road location in Bossier City handed out dozens of jackets earlier Wednesday.

Teachers pick up the coats for boys and girls in their classes who need a coat but can't afford to buy one.

"The teachers go through and look at the kids, and you can tell who's not bringing coats. And they give us a list of who needs coats," says Mooretown Elementary teacher Lewvon Williams.

Each year, hundreds of children receive coats through the "Coats for Kids" program.
