LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

This time of year, many military families can't be with their loved ones, so when one East Texas Marine found out he could come home for Christmas, he decided to make it the surprise of a lifetime.

Gregory Balint has been stationed in California away from his family for more than a year, and when he found out he was going to be home for Christmas, he and his mother decided to give his little brother a surprise.

"I wanted to surprise my brother today by coming home for Christmas, so I asked KLTV for help and the school helped a lot," Gregory Balint said.

Balint e-mailed KLTV's "Santa Scirto" to come to Pine Tree Elementary in Longview and help him surprise his brother Dominic.

"A few weeks ago Greg called and said, 'I e-mailed KLTV and they e-mailed me back." It just blew up from there and it was awesome," said Jennifer Balint, Dominic and Gregory's mother.

Santa Scirto paid Mrs. Massey's class a visit, and when it was Dominic's turn, he asked for something only Santa Scirto could provide: Dominic's brother Gregory.

Dominic and Gregory ran to hug each other, and they both said they were very excited for their Christmas together.

"Now I'm here for Christmas and was able to surprise my little brother. So everything worked out perfectly," Gregory Balint said.
