A Shreveport police officer in the Caddo Heights neighborhood was in the right place at the right time when he thwarted an attempted burglary at a local duplex Tuesday morning.
Cpl. Tracy Stovall was patrolling the 1800 block of DeSoto Street off Linwood Avenue near Midway at about 10:50 a.m., when he saw a vehicle backed up to a residence and two men "fiddling with something" at the back door. One of the men saw the officer and fled the scene, and his companion took off a few seconds later.
Because the men had left the vehicle running, the officer took the keys out, got the vehicle's temporary tag number and shut the door. At that time, one of the men returned and told the officer that someone had stolen his car and he was chasing the man.
A perimeter was set up, and the second man was caught.
Inside the vehicle were televisions, computers, sound equipment and other items.
