Camp Minden cleanup progressing on schedule

DOYLINE, LA (KSLA) -

Work is continuing on the cleanup of improperly stored black powder at the Explo Inc. site at Camp Minden, and Louisiana State Police say work is progressing on schedule.

State Police Trooper Matt Harris says the cleanup is scheduled to take two to three weeks, and crews are making steady progress, having cleared more than half of the product so far.

Following an explosion at the site on Oct. 15, six millions of pounds of material were found to be improperly stored, prompting a week-long evacuation of the residents of Doyline.

So far just under four million pounds of the black powder have been safely stored into underground bunkers.
