HOPE, AR (KSLA) -

The search is on for those responsible for ripping an ATM out of a Walgreens pharmacy in Hope over the weekend.

It happened around 6 Sunday morning. Security video shows one person entering the business and wrapping a cable around the machine before a van pulls the whole thing through the glass door, nearly striking the burglar.

"I can't say that they knew what they were doing but it sure looked like they had a plan. They got in quickly, they got a hold of the ATM machine, they jerked it out of the building and had it loaded and were out of sight pretty quickly," says Hope Assistant Chief Kim Tomlin.

The burglars didn't get far before wrecking the van and abandoning it at the 29-mile marker on I30 just west of the Hope city limits.

The burglars got away, but the ATM was left inside the van and Tomlin says it had not been broken into. "They didn't get away with the money or anything like that. We were able to recover the machine itself and its contents."

Police believe more than two people were involved in the burglary, since the ATM weighed more than 500 pounds and was somehow placed in the van.

Police say the van was stolen from the Mesquite, Texas area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hope Police Department at (870) 777-3434 or your local police department.
