BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

A Bossier City police officer was fired Thursday after criminal charges were filed against him.

Following investigations by detectives and personnel with the Internal Affairs Division, 38-year-old Joseph Michael Caples of Bossier City was arrested on a criminal warrant charging him with illegal possession of stolen things, theft and malfeasance in office.

Caples is accused of possessing two stolen saxophones that had been taken in a vehicle burglary and then pawning them at a pawn shop for $750, leaving the pawn shop with a financial loss.

Caples was booked into the Bossier City Jail after Police chief Shane McWilliams fired him. Caples' bond is set at $15,000. He had been working with the Bossier City Police Department for nearly 11 years and was assigned to the patrol division.
