For some, Wednesday was just another day. But for one couple in Donaldsonville, 12/12/12 was a day filled with romance. Wednesday is the last time this century when we'll see a sequential date. But after saying "I Do", for the Haynes' today represents the beginning.
Guests were ushered in, groomsmen were pinned with flowers and tucked away in a little room, Katina Williams was getting laced into her gown, waiting for noon to roll around.
"No, I'm not going to cry," said Craig Haynes. Haynes, the groom, was in place ahead of schedule. After showing off his groom's cake (a replica of his car) he was ready to get the ceremony underway.
Originally the bride wanted to get married on her birthday in July. But the groom came up with another plan.
"12-12-12 is the only - that a day I'm going to see only one time. So I said, 'Let's do it on my birthday.'"
So as Haynes celebrates another birthday, he'll also celebrate their anniversary.
After seating the bride and groom's mothers, guests continued to turn their heads back and forth 12 more times - for the 12 bridesmaids and 12 groomsmen.
But it was that last turn of the head that everyone, especially the groom, had been waiting for.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here in the sight of God," began the preacher.
There's one other significant meaning of the number 12 for this couple. They say if you add up the last digits of their dates of birth, and their son's, that number equals 12.
For the new Mrs. Haynes, she says her wedding was everything she wished for.
"The best, everything I imagined....it's special, very special."
