Two years after a car crash that left Chad Jones with life-threatening injuries, the LSU star is attempting another comeback in the NFL.
This time it's with the Philadelphia Eagles, a rival of the team that drafted him, the New York Giants. Jones was the Giants third round pick in the 2010 draft, but was released this year when he was unable to pass a physical and has been out of football all season.
Although doctors let Jones know early that he would never play football again, that has not stopped him from continuing to pursue his dream of playing in the NFL.
The Eagles are looking to next year and seeing just what Chad Jones has to offer the team.
Jones told USA Today by phone, "I was actually pumped. I think a little more came out of me, just being in that atmosphere. I actually think I turned it up to another level."
"My footwork is much better, I'm getting in and out of my breaks, I'm stronger, my legs are much stronger, conditioning is better," Jones told USA Today. "I'm about 50 percent more from where I was when I was with the Giants (in the spring). I feel great."
Jones is hoping to make the Eagles roster next year, which depends not only on his health, but the future of head coach Andy Reid.
