BOSSIER PARISH, LA (KSLA) -
The charge against an Elm Grove man in the death of his 5-year-old daughter has been dropped.
5-year-old Anna Celeste Lowe died on January 13, 2011 of internal bleeding caused by severe trauma. Investigators say she had already been dead for at least two hours before she was brought to the emergency room at Willis Knighton Pierremont that day.
Wesley Lowe, 33, was charged with negligent homicide in connection with her death, but Bossier Parish District Attorney Schuyler Marvin confirms that charge has been dismissed, saying "We never had any reason to believe that he was involved in the death of the child."
Marvin also says Lowe has an alibi.
Prosecutors were able to establish that the child's stepmother, Catherine Lowe, was with Celeste at the time of her death.
Lowe, 36, has already pleaded to manslaughter rather than face trial on a charge of second degree murder. She faces up to 25 years in prison. Her sentencing is scheduled for December 18.
