SEVIER CO., AR (KSLA) -

Two men were arrested Sunday night following a vehicle chase in Sevier County.

A Sevier County sheriff's deputy attempted to make a traffic stop at about 9 p.m. on Highway 71 south of DeQueen, Ark., but the vehicle sped away in a southbound direction. The vehicle then turned around and headed back toward DeQueen.

Deputies deployed spike strips, stopping the car just south of DeQueen. Two men inside the car ran into nearby woods, but they were captured a short time later.

The car was reported stolen from Gonzales, Texas, on Dec. 2.

Deputies say the men picked up a girl in Palestine, Texas, who was also in the vehicle during the chase. The girl was found not to have been involved in the theft of the vehicle and was released.

The two men were identified as 22-year-old Domonique Ornales and 18-year-old Benson Hernandez, both of Gonzales, Texas. Both men are behind bars in the Sevier County Jail, charged with felony theft and felony fleeing.
