MARSHALL, TX (KLTV) -
Marshall Police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal
shooting at an East Texas restaurant. Emergency crews raced to Domino's
Pizza on Victory Drive where they found two employees shot during an
armed robbery.
"The ambulance arrived with them and they administered medical
attention to and they were transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center
here in Marshall," says Marshall Police Department Detective Sonya
Johnson.
21-year-old Raymond Gomez of Marshall died of his injuries at the
hospital. A female victim was wounded as well. The suspect fled on foot,
but his image was caught on surveillance video. That would play a big
role in the following hours.
"Several subjects called in on our Crimestoppers, Marshall
Crimestoppers tip, line identifying the subject in the video," Johnson
says.
A flurry of tips began coming into police, and one lead them to the
man they were looking for. 24-year-old Eric Alexander Mills was arrested
on a warrant charge of capital murder.
"Eric Alexander Mills was arrested this morning approximately 7 a.m.
on tips received. In this situation, the tips that we received helped
tremendously, helped tremendously in apprehending this suspect." she
says.
A judge has ordered an autopsy for Gomez. Mills is awaiting arraignment on formal charges.
According to friends and Gomez's Facebook page, he was the shift
manager at the Domino's Pizza and was a student at Northwestern State
University where he was studying music education. The condition of the
second victim, whose name has not been released, is unknown.
