DOYLINE, LA (KSLA) -
Although Doyline residents remain concerned, Louisiana State Police say that significant progress has been made in the past five days as they work to relocate up to 6 million pounds of explosives that were improperly stores at Camp Minden.
As of today, 2 million pounds of explosives have been moved and stored properly. At this rate, this process could take at least 7 more days.
Residents at the Minden Civic Center met Wednesday and are talking about filing a lawsuit against Explo Systems, the company that owns the explosives.
Only residents of Doyline were allowed into the meeting. A law firm out of Bossier City led the meeting and confirmed that they have filed a class action law suit against Explo.
Lawyers with the group say that they plan to seek compensation for Doyline residents to account for costs from both the current evacuation and damages related to the October 15 bunker blast.
The evacuation notice for Doyline residents runs through Thursday but state police say that officials will discuss whether it should be extended.
