Statesboro special election results are in

STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) -

The results are in for what may be the final election of the season.

In Statesboro Tuesday, Phil Boyum defeated Jonathan McCollar 322 to 215 for Statesboro City Council, District 1 seat.

Boyum says the job is all about looking after the interests of neighborhoods and their residents.

"I think what they want is someone to represent them and their interests and take their concerns to council and try to influence the rest of the council when it's time to vote." said Boyum.

Boyum will fill the seat vacated by former longtime council member, Tommy Blitch, who stepped down for health reasons.
