MINDEN, LA (KSLA) -
Two teens will be tried as adults after a Minden man died from injuries he received in a severe beating in October.
The Webster Parish District Attorney's Office confirms that Chester Kimmons and Antonio Thornton, both 16, will be tried in district court as adults for the death of 39-year-old Cedric Kingsby.
Kingsby was found in the middle of the road in the 600 block of Columbia Street shortly before 10 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21. He remained in a coma at LSU Medical Center until he died on Nov. 13.
Investigators say Kingsby was hit multiple times in the face, fell backward and hit his head on the ground.
A Webster Parish Grand Jury indicted the two teens, along with 24-year-old Roshun Huey, on Monday. All three are charged with second-degree homicide in connection with the case.
In a statement released Tuesday, District Attorney Schuyler Marvin said, "This case is still in the early stages, ultimately it is up to these defendants and their attorney as to how they plea. This is yet another case of very bad decisions. A life could have been saved if they had stopped the fight. It was the continual and relentless beating of Mr. Kingsby long after he was unconscious that caused his death."
