Dec. 3rd: KSLA News 12 Shreveport Regional Arts Council Editorial

This coming weekend is one of the most lavish fundraisers in the ArkLaTex. It's the Shreveport Regional Arts Council's Christmas in the Sky.

Extraordinary sets, lavish costumes, great food and entertainment. It's done every two years….with the hope of raising thousands of dollars.

The goal this weekend is $700,000. Although not everyone can attend Christmas in the Sky, money raised does help us all.

It will fund Artbreak, the south's largest student arts festival that showcases student artists,

Artspace, to continue to bring the highest quality arts exhibitions and arts education programs to our community,

the Central Artstation, opens in February to bring new artist training programs to Northwest Louisiana and

development of the Shreveport Common bringing economic development to Downtown Shreveport.

With the devastating cuts to the arts that continue on a city, state and federal level, Christmas in the Sky has become increasingly more important to Shreveport Regional Arts Council in order to maintain year round support for the arts in our community and throughout Northwest Louisiana.

Here's to another successful year. I'm James Smith.

State Police Supt. Col. Mike Edmonson needs to address this inexcusable behavior directly and restore the public's confidence. He should be fully transparent in his investigation into the matter and should invite an outside entity to look into the matter.

Be on the lookout for kids. They seem to dart out from everywhere. They are certainly not looking out for you; so please look out for them.
