SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Authorities have identified an East Texas man who died following a motorcycle crash last week in front of a skating rink in west Shreveport.

Shreveport Police say Joseph Miciotto, 34, of Deberry, Texas, was involved in a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Saturday in the 5100 block of Bert Kouns Industrial Loop near the Hot Wheels Skating Rink.

Police say Miciotto died from his injuries after being involved in a collision with a 1998 Ford F-350 pickup truck.

Witnesses told police that Miciotto was traveling east on Bert Kouns when the driver of the pickup, Raymond Johnson, 81, of Shreveport, entered the roadway from a private lot and allegedly pulled into the path of Miciotto's motorcycle.

Miciotto's motorcycle hit the driver's side of Johnson's truck. Miciotto was pronounced dead at the scene after Shreveport Fire Department personnel arrived at the scene.

Johnson, who was not injured in the crash, was taken to a hospital for toxicological testing as mandated by state law.

While no cause of the accident has been established, authorities say speed may have been "a causative factor" in the crash. Authorities continue to investigate.
