JEFFERSON, LA (WAFB) -

The Office of the Louisiana Attorney General said an 18-year-old woman faces multiple counts of fraud for causing false claims to be submitted to the state's Medicaid program.

Attorney General Buddy Caldwell said Shondricka Richardson, 18, of Jefferson, LA was arrested on Nov. 27 on 10 counts of Medicaid fraud.

He reported the personal care attendant turned in falsified timesheets claiming she provided services to Medicaid patients on the same dates and at the same times she was in class.

According to documents, Medicaid was billed for about $28,000 in services that weren't done.

The attorney general's office said the timesheets were turned in between August 2011 and May 2011.

Authorities reported Richardson was enrolled at Riverdale High at the time.

Richardson was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Conviction on one count of Medicaid fraud carries a maximum of five years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

Personal care attendants provide caregiver services like cooking, grooming and bathing.
