Nov. 29th: KSLA News 12 Coats for Kids Editorial

It's been pretty cold lately…and many more bone chilling days are ahead.

KSLA News 12 along with Porter's Cleaners and Goodwill want to make sure children in the ArkLATex have a warm coat to wear this winter.

That's why we've again launched the Coats for Kids program.

We are collecting used coats…that are still in good shape…and giving them to children who need them this winter. Of course, new coats are also welcome. You can drop off your coat at any Porter's Cleaners in the area or here at the KSLA News 12 studios. Porter's will make sure they get cleaned and ready for a new child to use this winter.

This is our 24th year of the Coats for Kids collection drive. Over that time….thousands of children have received recycled coats because of your generosity. Thanks for helping again.

I'm James Smith.

State Police Supt. Col. Mike Edmonson needs to address this inexcusable behavior directly and restore the public's confidence. He should be fully transparent in his investigation into the matter and should invite an outside entity to look into the matter.

Be on the lookout for kids. They seem to dart out from everywhere. They are certainly not looking out for you; so please look out for them.
