Louisiana Tech, despite having the nation's No. 1 ranked offense, was not selected for a bowl game for the 2012 postseason. The Bulldogs end the 2012 campaign with a 9-3 record.

The Bulldogs finished third in the Western Athletic Conference this season, a league with only one bowl tie-in. That went to Utah State, this year's WAC Champion. San Jose State, which finished second right above Louisiana Tech, received an at-large bid to play in the Military Bowl earlier this week.

This marked Louisiana Tech's final season of WAC play. The University will become a member of Conference USA in all sports on July 1, 2013. Conference USA currently has five bowl tie-ins.

With Northern Illinois rising to the top 16 in the final BCS Standings of the regular season, that kept Oklahoma from reaching a BCS bowl and forcing the Heart of Dallas Bowl to select a Big 12 team to face Purdue. The Liberty Bowl, one of the few bowls with an at-large spot available, chose Iowa State instead of Louisiana Tech.

Louisiana Tech's administration has been working closely with WAC Interim Commissioner Jeff Hurd and Conference USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky over the last couple months to try to secure a bowl game for the Bulldogs.
