7 arrested in Texarkana, AR 8-liner raids

TEXARKANA, AR (KSLA) -

Seven people have been arrested following raids on private clubs in the Texarkana, Arkansas area as part of an investigation into illegal gambling.

Texarkana, Arkansas Police say they were focusing on the operation of gaming machines, commonly referred to as 8-liners.

The possession of the gaming devices are a violation of Arkansas State Law, a Class D felony.

Members of TAPD worked with the resident State Alcohol Beverage Control Agent, as the businesses had state permits to sell beer or liquor on the premises.

Police say any owner, permit holder, or business employee present at the time of the raid was arrested on the Class D felony offense and ordered to appear in Texarkana, Arkansas District Court for their first judicial appearance.

A total of 7 individuals were cited at the following clubs: Hippies on E. 36th Street, The Roadmap on East St., The Cottage on E. 9th St., and The Crazy Horse Saloon on Broad St.
