TYLER, TX (KLTV) -
An East Texas congressman says "anti-Muslim investigations" into the Obama Administration are necessary because of the "horrendous decisions" in backing revolutions in Muslim countries across the world.
Congressman Louie Gohmert of Tyler was a guest on The Frank Gaffney Show on Tuesday. On the show, the congressman claims the Obama Administration actively aided al-Qaeda and charges that it follows the advice of the Muslim Brotherhood.
"You look at the decisions it made especially in the last two years in going through the revolutions in Northern Africa and across the Middle East and to the Far East, and the only way you can explain the horrendous decisions that were so completely wrongheaded would be if the administration had a bunch of Muslim Brotherhood members giving them advice," said Gohmert.
In a phone interview, Gohmert said the thought came from letters that he and four other members of Congress sent to five different federal departments looking for answers.
"They just said, 'Would you please investigate the extent of Muslim Brotherhood influence in your department?' There's no question there's influence, the question is how much is there. That's what we're asking," said Gohmert.
Gohmert added that his concerns were made clear when he had the opportunity to ask Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano about the issue.
"In front of our committee, I asked her how many members of her advisory committee were members of the Muslim Brotherhood, she said she didn't know," said Gohmert.
Gohmert says he doesn't believe the president is doing anything to actively harm the country, but on some issues, especially the Middle East, he's just getting some bad advice.
